Hosted by: The Green River Plantation,
2nd North Carolina Mounted Infantry,
3rd US Light Artillery
In April of 1865, Union forces under the command of General Alvan C. Gillem, acting on orders issued by General Stoneman, tried to attack Asheville via Swannanoa Gap. They were turned back by a Confederate force of infantry and artillery. Failing to take the Gap, they first moved south to Rutherfordton, then moved west, passing through the Plantation. Just outside of Columbus at Lynn, they moved north to Howard Gap, and proceeded on to Hendersonville, then on to Asheville.
Experience a Civil War battle, complete with Cavalry, Artillery, and Infantry. Visit military camps and see how civilians coped with the hardships of the War Between the States.
Entrance fee of $5.00 per adult, $2.00 for children 12 and under.

The reenactors wish to thank you for joining us and we hope you enjoyed our presentations. We would like to leave you with the following message:
Creed of the Living HistorianWe are the people, to whom the past is forever speaking,
We listen to it because we cannot help ourselves, for the past speaks to us with many voices.Far out of that dark nowhere, which is the time before we were born,
Men and women who where flesh of our flesh and bone of our bone,
Went through fire and storm to break a path to the future.
We are part of the future they died for.
They are part of the past that brought the future.
What they did - the lives they lived, the sacrifices they made,
the stories they toldand the songs they sung and finally,
the deaths they died - make up a part of our experience.
We cannot cut ourselves off from it.
It is as real to us as something that happened last week.
This is why we call ourselves; Living Historians
The Living Historians of The Carolina Foothills Historical Reenactment Society invite you to live the legacy our forefathers left us.
If you enjoy History and feel that the commitments and sacrifices of our forefathers are to be remembered, you are invited to contact:
